BIG COUNTRY release a greatest hits LP, "Through A Big Country", on May 14 on Mercury.Tracks are: "Save Me", "In A Big Country", "Fields Of Fire", "Chance", "Wonderland", "Where The Rose Is Sown", "Just A Shadow", "Look Away", "King Of Emotion", "East Of Eden", "One Great Thing", "The Teacher", "Broken Heart (Thirteen Valleys)" and "Peace In Our Time". Big Country are also releasing a special 12-inch format of their current single "Save Me". Released this week and backed with live versions of "Wonderland" and "Thousand Yard Stare" it comes in a limited edition with a gatefold sleeve and a full colour glossy four-page booklet. THE ICICLE WORKS have announced a new line-up, a new LP and a tour. Frontman Ian McNabb is ioined by Mark Revell on rhythm guitar, Roy Corkhill on bass, Dave Baldwin on Keyboards and Paul Burgess on drums. The LP, titled "Permanent Damage" , is out on Epic and features 12 tracks, including "I Still Want You", "Motorcycle Rider", and "What She Did To My Mind". It was co-produced by the band and Michael H. Brauer and Richard Manwaring. The band play Bradford Queens Hall (May 17), Warrington Parr Hall (18), Preston Polytechnic (19), Glasgow King Tut's (20), Aberdeen Caesar's Palace (21), Kircaldy New Philip Hall (22), Dundee Fat Sam's (23), Leeds Irish Centre (24), Egham Surrey Royal Holloway College (25), Wolverhampton Wulfren Hall (26), Doncaster The Jug (28), Peterborough Posh Club (30), Oldham Queen Elizabeth Hall (31), Derby Darwin Suite Assembly Halls (June 1) and Colchester Essex University (2). The Icicle works supported Big Country on tour in 2024 (and Ian McNabb supported them in 1991). Page 5 - TOUR NEWS FISH: Poole Arts Centre (July 2), St. Austell Cornwall Coliseum (3), Aylesbury Civic Centre (4), London Royal Albert Hall (9). Tickets are available from the box offices and usual agents. Fish has had close ties with Bruce & Mark, with them playing on several records and tours over the years. |

Our Stu was doing up his laces before the big game last week, ready for the fray, when a call came through from his PR man telling him he had to drop everything and rush off to film an edition of ropey rock prog "Rock Steady". When last seen, at the end of the day, our sturdy guitar hero looked distinctly sick as a parrot. Well, that's football... |
